follow the green umbrella

I got offered a job as a walking tour guide in Paris a few months ago.  For various reasons, I didn't take the job, but I would have loved to.  This morning, it occurred to me that maybe I haven't missed my calling as a tour guide yet.

Although it is unlikely to earn me any money, I think I have to put this one into action:  making a Paris Walking Tour podcast.

Basically, I've become obsessed with podcasts.  Given the long commute from my house to . . . anywhere, podcasts are to my scooter what your radio is to your car: nearly indispensable. (Although I have to admit its a little dangerous for everybody to have me scooting along in the middle of the street with earphones in, oblivious to possible traffic.)

It's the start of Europe's tourist season, and I bet a lot of people would be glad to have a free walking tour that they can download and do at their own pace, and shockingly, not that many exist!   This was inspired by guided walking tour of Versailles I took with my parents yesterday, which was gorgeous, but where we spent more time trying to follow the pastel umbrella and straining to understand our guide's crazy accent than enjoying the castle.

Luckily I have a Mac, that includes all the software I need for making a podcast.  So I'm off on my next adventure - Podcaster!

Sorry there's no pictures from my parents' visit, I'll try to get some up soon.
